COURSE OPTION:
I’m stressed, you’re stressed, our clients are stressed. Maybe we should be talking about stress! Osteopaths and Massage therapists are uniquely positioned to help patients cope. You may have learned that discussing stress is completely out of scope, but stress is a physiological process. When we are equipped with the right language and tools, we can make a profound difference for our patients and confidently stay in scope.
This 2-hour workshop is heavy on the neuroscience but light on your mental load.
In this course, you will learn to understand stress and pain in a way that will transform your practice, and hopefully your own stress. This is practical neuroscience that you’ll actually like. All content is designed to be usable during a treatment. This workshop includes theory and practical demonstrations. We’ll cover:
- How stress impacts the nervous system and how it shows up on the table
- Fundamentals of pain science and how patients often present
- How sensory input can reduce stress and increase the feeling of safety for your patient
- Simple but powerful tools for:
- Visual, olfactory and auditory input
- The proprioceptive and vestibular system
- Interoception (Vagus nerve) stimulation
- The Trigeminal nerve and how to provide soothing input to this vital system.
