I graduated from Makami in 2012 with my 3000 Hour Advanced Massage Diploma, and from MOCC in 2020 as a Manual Osteopathic Therapist. My passion is working with chronic pain and repetitive strain patterns. I have held various roles as a practitioner from owner operator, to management, spa settings and clinical. I currently work to increase client education in regards to fascia and functional movement.
Shantel Krawetz is a Registered Massage Therapist of over 5 years. Prior to becoming a Massage Therapist, Shantel was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She has always had a passion for helping clients live the best possible life. Her passion started at a young age of 4 years old when she was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous leukemia, being in and out of the healthcare system she knew she needed to do something to assist clients as they work towards their health goals. Shantel owns her own business in Big River, Saskatchewan, she is a mother of twin boys and she also calls herself “A Professional Student” as she loves learning new things and taking Continuing Education Courses. Shantel has been on the CMMOTA Board of Directors since 2018.
I completed my 2200 hour massage therapy program in Windsor, ON 2012. I then moved to Alberta and joined the CMMOTA as a member that same year. I hold a shiatsu certification as well as a hot stone massage therapy certification. I have practiced at well-established clinics and high end luxury spas over the past 5 years throughout Calgary and as far as Grande Prairie, AB. I have always been passionate about being in the health care profession and using my skills to help in recovery and well-being of clients. I believe our industry will only continue to grow over the coming years and I am happy to be part of a profession that is always changing in light of new research and information. I hope to learn much from our previous treasurer and bring the Remedial Massage Therapists Association and members to new heights as we push on toward full regulation in the province of Alberta. My desire is to bring my knowledge of coming from a regulated province for RMT’s in Ontario and applying this insight to help with this process in Alberta. I feel honored and privileged to be a part of this wonderful team and am excited for the transitions to come.
I have been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2012 and a Registered Manual Osteopathic Therapist since 2019. From 2014 until 2019, I held the position of Vice-President of the Alberta branch of the Canadian Sports Massage Therapists Association (CSMTA).
My past education also includes a Master’s Degree in Applied Science from University of Alberta and an Executive Business Management Certificate from the University of Calgary. Along my career path in complimentary health care, I also hold certifications as a Reiki Master/Teacher, Professional Fitness Trainer, National Sports Coach (NCCP Level 3), and advanced certification as a Therapeutic Cupping Instructor.
I have two main passions: teaching continuing education courses for health care professionals and working with athletes of all ages. I was honored to be on the medical teams as a therapist at the Canadian Olympic Track and Field Trials (2012), Canadian National Swim Finals (2012) and the World Cup Women’s Fastpitch Championships (2016). As Director with CMMOTA, I hope to apply my training and experience to contribute to the excellent work being done by CMMOTA.
