Acting as the fundamental fulcrum point in bipedal movement, the foot and ankle play a pivotal role in one & ability to move safely and efficiently. Containing a little more than 25% of all of the bones in the body, which combine to create 33 joints in each foot, understanding dysfunctions in this region is inevitably complicated, and yet imperative for a comprehensive understanding of the body in motion. In this 7 hour workshop, students will take a deep dive into the foot and ankle. Students will gain a complete understanding of the bones and joints of the foot and ankle, as well as muscles and connective tissue, and how these structures combine to create efficient movement. This knowledge will be cemented via a detailed hands- on portion of the workshop which will cover an assessment of complex and chronic ankle and foot dysfunctions, treatment protocols including myofascial release and joint mobilizations, and be finalized with comprehensive
homecare.
Having mastered the techniques taught in Advanced Assessment and Treatment of the Ankle will not only help you with ankle and foot dysfunctions; the skills and principles can be applied to every region of the body.

The purpose of this course is to introduce Athletic Taping for common sports injuries to Manual Therapists, Kinesiologists, and Personal Trainers. Athletic taping is a skill that is under-utilized by most Manual Therapists, Kinesiologists, and Personal Trainers, typically reserved for Field of Play Medical Teams, such as Certified Athletic Therapists, Sport Physiotherapists, and Sport Medicine Doctors. Unless you are a Sports Massage Therapist or have been involved in athletics, you may not be aware of the benefits of Athletic Taping. Athletic taping is performed by applying tape to the body on the skin surface to maintain a stable position of joints and muscles during physical activity. Athletic taping is multifaceted, being used for several reasons, injury prevention, injury management, and maintaining proper biomechanics during activity. Knowledge of Temporomandibular Joint and its applied anatomy is of utmost importance in treating jaw pain and dysfunction. The following course is centred around the concepts involved in external and intraoral treatment of TMJ issues: anatomy and mechanics of the TMJ and associated structures, palpation of anatomical structures relevant to treatment, identify common TMJ conditions, subjective and objective assessment of TMJ and relevant structures, manual therapy – external and intraoral massage techniques, joint mobilizations, remedial exercise and post treatment care.
