COURSE OPTION:

In this 60-minute webinar, participants will learn a practical approach to the assessment and treatment of acute and chronic low back and pelvic pain. Participants will integrate current pain science with contemporary massage and manual therapy research to refine their clinical reasoning and support better treatment outcomes. Emphasis is placed on translating best evidence into hands-on care, including massage therapy applications, movement interventions, and patient-centred communication. This info is applied with video demonstrations for a variety of pathologies and clinical presentations.

Eric Purves, MSc RMT

Eric is a registered massage therapist, educator and researcher based in Victoria, BC, Canada. He has over 20 years of clinical experience. His clinical, research and educational focus is on the use of research evidence to inform best practices for the treatment and management of painful musculoskeletal disorders. Eric is a former faculty member with PainBC. He now runs his own continuing education company, The Centre for Evidence Based Education Inc. where he teaches courses to massage, manual and movement therapists on assessment, treatment and management for chronic pain, regional and systemic conditions.

In 2019, Eric received his master’s in rehabilitation science through the University of British Columbia. His graduate work focused on the role of massage therapists in the healthcare system, the barriers and facilitators to the use of research evidence in practice and how to use evidence-based strategies to enhance the utilization of research evidence in curriculum development and educational delivery.
