Membership Requirement – Membership Fee Payment Policy

Purpose:

• To establish a policy framework surrounding the Membership Requirement to pay membership fees in accordance with CMMOTA Bylaw 3.3..

Policy:

1. Full Massage Therapist, Full Manual Osteopathic Therapist, Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist, Associate Massage Therapist, Registered Massage Therapist, Spa Therapist, Inactive Massage Therapist, and Inactive Manual Osteopathic Therapist members are required to pay in advance on an annual basis Membership Renewal Fees as designated by the Association in accordance with the CMMOTA Fee Schedule.

2. Administration shall provide an invoice for membership renewal fees to members by November 1 to their last known email address. This invoice shall include a breakdown of annual membership fees, professional liability insurance renewal fees, insurance surcharges, insurance taxes, and a notice of the deadline to pay the fees.

3. Payment plans may be offered at the discretion of Administration to assist members in paying membership renewal fees. These plans may not reduce the total amount of the annual fee or the requirement that all membership renewal fees must be paid in full by the published deadline for the payment of fees.

3.1. Payment plan agreements will be tracked by administration.

3.2. Members who fail to complete a payment plan by the end of the published deadline for the payment of membership renewal fees shall be considered in non-compliance and shall be subject to item 5. of this policy.

3.3. Partial payment of a membership renewal fee will not be refunded if a member is cancelled for non-payment of membership renewal fees in accordance with CMMOTA’s Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Payment of Membership Fees Policy.

4. Membership fees are non-refundable and are considered fulfilled on the first day of the membership period for which they were paid. As such if a membership is cancelled because of disciplinary action or through member-initiated membership cancellation, no refund for membership fees shall be provided.

5. If a member does not submit the required Annual Membership Renewal Fees to the Association before the deadline, then Administration shall follow CMMOTA’s Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding the Payment of Membership Fees Policy.

6. The Executive Director may, at their discretion, waive the payment of all or part of a member’s annual renewal fee or provide a full or partial refund. Where a renewal payment is waived or a full or partial refund is provided, it must be documented in the membership file and is to be reported to the Board of Directors at the next available Board Meeting.
