First Aid Poster

The reason a minimum level of Intermediate First Aid Level C CPR is a requirement for a full Massage or Manual Osteopathic therapist is two-fold.

First, it ensures you can respond quickly and effectively in an emergency.

Quick responses ensure the safety and well-being of your clients. Intermediate (formerly Standard) First Aid Level C CPR is required over Basic/Emergency First Aid and CPR A as it provides a more comprehensive set of skills. Intermediate First Aid provides training on topics such as head, neck, spinal, bone, muscle, and joint injuries as well as sudden medical emergencies. CPR C is required over CPR A as CPR C goes farther into choking and CPR/AED for children and babies. These additional skills allow therapists to respond effectively to a wider range of emergencies.

Second, having valid certification in Intermediate First Aid Level C CPR provides legal protection for you as a first responder in an emergency situation. Without valid certification, providing emergency care may put you at risk to civil liability.

Pursuing Intermediate First Aid Level C CPR training is an investment in both professional development and client safety. It elevates the standards of practice within the professional community and fosters a culture of preparedness and excellence.

In early 2023 there were some name changes to First Aid courses in accordance with the Canadian Safety Association (CSA) standards! Standard First Aid with Level C CPR in some instances is now called Intermediate First Aid Level C CPR or CSA Intermediate, depending on the course provider. When taking your certification or recertification, please ensure that you are booking the right course. As a reminder, Basic/Emergency First Aid is not accepted.
