At CMMOTA we are constantly advocating on behalf of our members – it is, after all, one of our primary functions as an Association.
We are pleased to share with you that over the past number of months we have been able to add some modalities to CMMOTA’s professional liability insurance policy. Here are the changes!
Manual Osteopathic Therapist Members
We have been able to add the following under Section 3, which covers modalities which require additional training (recognized CEC) to practice:
- Hydrotherapy
- Infant Osteopathy (requires additional insurance premium for coverage)
- Jin Shin Jytsu
- MPS – Microcurrent Point System
- Neurofascial Therapy
- RAPID NeuroFascial Reset
- Rolfing
- Soft Tissue Manipulation.
- Vagus Nerve
Massage Therapist Members
The Core 10 is now the Core 11, following the addition of Chair Massage to the list of modalities which are automatically granted to Full Massage Therapist and Registered Massage Therapist members in recognition of completion of their 2200-hour program.
We have also been able to add the following under Section 4, which covers modalities which require additional training (recognized CEC) to practice:
- Access Bars
- Aquatic Massage Therapy
- Gua Sha
- Jin Shin Jytsu
- MPS – Microcurrent Point System
- Neurofascial Therapy
- Orthopedic Massage/Certification
- Post Concussion Therapy (requires additional insurance premium for coverage)
- RAPID Neurofascial Reset
- Rattan Massage
- Rolfing
- Soft Tissue Manipulation
- Therapeutic Harmonics
- Vagus Nerve
- Watsu (requires additional insurance premium for coverage)
Spa Therapist Members
We have been able to add the following under Section 2, which covers modalities which require additional training (recognized CEC) to practice:
- Active Release
- Somatics
If there are additional modalities which are currently not included on CMMOTA’s modalities list for your profession (Manual Osteopathic Modalities List, Massage Therapist Modalities List, Spa Therapist Modalities List) that you believe fall within the scope of practice for your profession, please let us know so that we can advocate for their inclusion on your behalf.
