Below we have outlined changes and additions or deletions to our policy handbook since the September 25, 2025 Edition. All of the changes in these policies are policy amendments which were approved at the November 20, 2025 Board of Directors Meeting. All Policy changes contained within this edition of the member handbook come into effect December 1, 2025.

The Board has adopted the following new policies:

  • Membership Certificate Policy
    • This policy provides clarification on provision of Membership Certificates following renewal or obtaining membership with the Association.

The Board has made amendments to the following policies:

  • Continuing Education Credits Course Approvals Policy
    • Added item 4.a.v., 4.b.iii., and 4.c.iii to clarify that a course must be clear if case studies are required to complete the course, and that if required it must be required of all course participants.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding RMT Proof of Regulatory College Membership/Registration Policy
    • Changes were made to item 5 to bring it in line with the adoption of digital membership certificates.
  • Establishment of a Disciplinary Committee Policy
    • Under item 7.a. the CEC is increased from 4 to 6 per year and removes a limit on monetary compensation for Disciplinary Committee meetings.
    • Under item 7.c. per diem rates changed to match the rates set out in Appendix 2 – Board of Directors Remuneration and Expense Reimbursement Schedule for meeting attendance, which now includes both a committee meeting and disciplinary hearing.
    • Under item 7.e. added language to clarify that meal compensation is for hearings held in person.
  • External Committee or Organization Appointment and Compensation Policy
    • Under item 5 the number of CEC is increased from 3 to 6.
    • Under items 9 and 15 the timing of submission is changed from 60 days to “a timely manner”
  • Fee Schedule Policy
    • Updated name of the fee under 1.w. from Membership Certificate Replacement Fee to Physical Membership Certificate Fee which is a result of the adoption of digital membership certificates.
    • Removed items 1.dd. and 1.ee. as they are no longer relevant.
  • Membership Certificate Seals Policy
    • This policy has been revised to bring it into line with the adoption of digital membership certificates. Seals for past certificates will continue to be available only until June 30, 2026. The policy also states that certificates previously issued with space for verification seals in years 2026, 2027 or 2028 will be considered void on January 1, 2026.
  • Membership Number Change Policy
    • Item 6 has been revised to bring it into line with the adoption of digital membership certificates. Item 8 is deleted as this fee is no longer required.
  • Membership Requirement – Continuing Education Credits Policy
    • Added clarification statement to item 10 regarding massage therapy education.
    • Added clarification statement to item 11 regarding manual osteopathic therapy education.
    • Item 13.h.i. – added examples, and increased credit amounts and maximums.
    • Added Item 13.i. – Volunteering to Serve the Industry. This opens more opportunity to earn CEC through industry volunteering.
    • Added Item 13.o.ii. to clarify that the CE provided would apply to both professions.
    • Item 13.p.i. – increased credit amounts.
    • Added Item 13.p.iii. – to clarify that the CE provided would apply to both professions.
    • Added the word “Internal” to item 13.q.
    • Added Item 13.r. – which splits the external committee or organizational appointments out from internal committees. This change was necessary to clarify that the credits only apply to the profession served.
    • Added Item 14.a.iv. as a reference to a checklist for Item 13.i.
  • Membership Requirement – Other Association Membership Policy
    • Added the College of Osteopaths of New Brunswick to the list. Also updated the names of membership classes to match the Bylaws as represented throughout the document.
  • Membership Requirement – RMT Proof of Regulatory College Membership/Registration Policy
    • Added the word licensure to the policy to reflect the changes to the regulatory college in BC.
  • Name Change Policy
    • Updated item 6. to reflect the adoption of digital membership certificates and deleted items 8 and 9 as they were no longer necessary.

The Board has made amendments to the following appendix:

  • Appendix 2: Board of Directors Remuneration and Expense Reimbursement Schedule
    • Added a section on whom this schedule applies to within the Association
    • Added a clarification statement surrounding meal reimbursement.

The Executive Director has adopted these new appendices or made amendments to the following appendices:

  • Appendix 10: Examples of Written Informed Consent Forms for Massage Therapy
    • This new appendix provides examples of written consent forms which may be used by therapists as a template to develop their own written informed consent form. Links to downloadable documents will be included on the webpage.
  • Appendix 11-Volunteering to Serve the Industry Checklist
    • This new appendix provides a checklist of what is needed in order to obtain CEC credits for Volunteering to Serve the Industry.
  • Appendix 15 – Massage Therapy Membership Reinstatement Application Form
    • Updated to reflect changes in Cancellation of Membership Policy, and a variety of CMMOTA Disciplinary Policy. Also updated the PIPA and Application Disclosure statements.
  • Appendix 16 – MOT Membership Reinstatement Application Form
    • Updated to reflect changes in Cancellation of Membership Policy, a variety of CMMOTA Disciplinary Policies, and changes to required educational documentation. Also updated the PIPA and Application Disclosure statements.
