Below we have outlined changes and additions or deletions to our policy handbook since the July 9, 2026 Edition. All of the changes in these policies are policy amendments which were approved at the July 9, 2026 Board of Directors Meeting, pending approval of the Bylaw Amendments by Alberta Registries. All Policy changes contained within this edition of the member handbook will come into effect August 21, 2026.

The Board has made amendments to the following policies:

  • Board of Directors Nomination(s) Policy
    • Addition of Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist members to eligibility requirements under item #7
  • Client Records, Charting, and Treatment Notes Policy
    • Added Clarification Statement to the front of the policy that the policy does not apply to certain membership classes.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Current Vulnerable Sector Check Policy
    • Removed references to Bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
    • Removed the requirement for Nova Scotia Members to provide annual VSC.
    • Added language to allow for CRC in jurisdictions which no longer provide VSC’s for professional association requirements.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Intermediate First Aid and Level “C” CPR Certification Policy
    • Removed references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Maintenance of Valid Professional Liability Insurance Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Other Association Membership Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding RMT or RMOT Proof of Regulatory College Membership Registration Policy
    • Added RMOT membership class to this policy following bylaw amendments.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Study Permit and or Work Permit Requirements Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Submission of Annual Declaration Forms Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Fee Schedule Policy
    • Updated the Name of the Fees and added Fees related to the new RMOT membership class.
  • Membership Requirement – Annual Declaration Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Membership Requirement – Intermediate First Aid and Level “C” CPR Certification Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Membership Requirement – Maintenance of Study Permit Work Permit Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Membership Requirement – Maintenance of Valid Professional Liability Insurance Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM. Added new membership class of RMOT.
  • Membership Requirement – Membership Fee Payment Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM. Added new membership class of RMOT.
  • Membership Requirement – Other Association Membership Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM. Added new membership class of RMOT.
    • Added clarification statements regarding dual profession membership.
  • Membership Requirement – Proof of Regulatory College Membership/Registration Policy
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM. Added new membership class of RMOT.
  • Membership Requirement – Vulnerable Sector Check Policy
    • Added Policy #1 which provides clarification on when a Criminal Record Check may replace a Vulnerable Sector Check to fulfil this requirement. Also updated language throughout the document to reflect this update
    • Removed the requirement for annual submission for those in Nova Scotia.
    • Updated references to specific bylaws changed in the Bylaw Amendments at this year’s AGM.
  • Student and Associate Membership Upgrade Policy
    • Added geographic limitation to Associate Membership as this class may now only be offered to those practicing in Alberta, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, or Yukon. Current Associate members in Saskatchewan and Manitoba will be allowed to keep their Associate membership status until either the college comes into force, or they are able and required to upgrade to the Full Massage Therapist membership class.
    • Adjustments were made to upgrading requirements for those seeking to enter the Registered Massage Therapist membership class as a result of changes to the Bylaw.
    • Added references to the new Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist membership class.
  • Treatment of Family Members Policy
    • Added clarification that this policy does not apply to the Registered Massage Therapist or Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist classes.
  • Treatment of Romantic Partner Policy
    • Added clarification that this policy does not apply to the Registered Massage Therapist or Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist classes.
  • Treatment of Sensitive Areas Policy
    • Added clarification that this policy does not apply to the Registered Massage Therapist or Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist classes.
  • Treatment of Spouse Policy
    • Added clarification that this policy does not apply to the Registered Massage Therapist or Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist classes.
  • Virtual Consultations and Treatment Policy
    • Added clarification that this policy does not apply to the Registered Massage Therapist or Regulated Manual Osteopathic Therapist classes.
