Below we have outlined changes and additions or deletions to our policy handbook since the May 7, 2025 Edition. All of the changes in these policies are policy amendments which were approved at the May 29, 2025 Board of Directors Meeting. All Policy changes contained within this edition of the member handbook will come into effect June 9, 2025.
The Board has adopted the following new following policies:
- Meeting Minutes Policy
- This policy combines two existing policies (Board of Directors Meeting Minutes Policy and Internal Committee Meeting Minutes Policy) and addresses the new topics of AGM/Special Meeting Minutes, and Minutes for the Disciplinary Committee.
- Modalities Recognition Policy
- This policy provides clear direction on the approval process for adding or removing modalities to or from a modalities list for one or more of CMMOTA’s professional designations.
The Board has made amendments to the following policies:
- Board of Directors Remuneration and Expense Reimbursement Policy
- Changed the language in items 6 and 13 to encourage quicker submission of expenses/per diems.
- Added Item 9 to ensure that the Association is keeping up to the rates which are published by the CRA.
- Changed language in item 11 for clarification purposes and to reflect changes to the per diem schedule.
- Item 15.b. words added for clarification purposes.
- Item 15.c. added to allow Board members to waive their right to the basic rate compensation.
- Updated language in Item 16 for better clarification.
- Discipline for Complaints Policy
- Moved a section previously listed under 5.10.8-5.10.11 under a new heading at 5.2. and added additional language in the form of Items 5.2.1 and 5.2.2. regarding active or ongoing police investigations. Numbering related to these number changes as a result of the move have been adjusted through the policy.
- Added language around membership suspension regarding the permanent retirement of membership numbers and notification of third parties, and new membership number being issued if suspension is lifted at items 5.2.1.1-5.2.1.2, 5.9.3.1.1.-5.9.3.1.2, 6.2.1.1.-6.2.1.2., and 8.4.5—8.4.6.
- Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Continuing Education Credits Policy
- Updated Language in items 3 to allow progressive discipline to occur while helping the member to become compliant with the requirements.
- Added items 4-7 and made additions to item 10 to clarify what happens regarding membership suspension.
- Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check Policy
- Added items 10-12 and made additions to item 14 to clarify what happens regarding membership suspension.
- Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Intermediate First Aid and Level “C” CPR Certification Policy
- Added items 5-7 and made additions to item 9 to clarify what happens regarding membership suspension.
- Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Maintenance of Valid Professional Liability Insurance Policy
- Added language to items 3 and 4 to clarify what happens regarding membership suspension.
- Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Payment of Membership Fees Policy
- Added Items 5-7 and made additions to item 9 to clarify what happens regarding membership suspension and what fees are required to be paid.
- Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Study Permit Work Permit Requirements Policy
- Added language to item 5 to expand conditions under which a suspension can be lifted.
- Added Items 6-8 and made additions to item 9 to clarify what happens regarding membership suspension.
- Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Submission of Annual Declaration Form Policy
- Added Items 4-6 and made additions to item 8 to clarify what happens regarding membership suspension.
The Board has made amendments to the following appendix:
- Appendix 2: Board of Directors Remuneration and Expense Reimbursement Schedule
- Lowered the Basic Rate for Treasurer and Vice President
- Adjusted the Per Diem Rates to Reflect Current Market Value
- Adjusted Mileage Rate to Match CRA Published Standards
The Board has rescinded the following policies:
- Board of Directors Meeting Minutes Policy
- This policy has been consolidated as part of the new Meeting Minutes Policy
- English Language Fluency Policy
- This policy has been renamed to Applicant Requirement – English Language Fluency Policy. As it is applicable only to membership applicants, it has been removed from the Membership Policy and Procedure Handbook.
- Internal Committee Meeting Minutes Policy
- This policy has been consolidated as part of the new Meeting Minutes Policy
The Executive Director has made amendments to the following appendices:
- Appendix 19 – Modalities List for Massage Therapists

- Added the following modalities under Section 4: Aquatic Massage Therapy, Orthopedic Massage/Certification, RAPID NeuroFascial Reset, Therapeutic Harmonics, Vagus Nerve, and Watsu
- Appendix 34 – Modalities List for Manual Osteopathic Therapists

- Added the following modalities under Section 3: RAPID NeuroFascial Reset, Vagus Nerve
- Appendix 41 – Seminar Conference Attendance Checklist
- Removed requirement for 250 word essay.
- Appendix 42 – Modalities List for Spa Therapists

- Added the following modalities under Section 2: Active Release, Somatics
