Conflict De-escalation in the Workplace
Giving you the tools to reduce in-the-moment emotional escalation
Conflict de-escalation is not about resolving disagreements—it’s about recognizing and reducing heightened emotional states before they escalate further.
For massage therapists, this can mean navigating moments where a client feels a loss of control, becomes emotionally distressed, or when a situation shifts and your personal safety needs to be safeguarded quickly.
This workshop is designed to give you practical, evidence-informed tools to manage those moments safely and professionally.
A Practical, Real-World Learning Experience
Developed by Brick and Bridge Communications, this three-hour, hands-on workshop is grounded in:
1. Communication theory
2. Real-world case studies
3. Frontline experience in high-stakes environments
Participants will work through guided discussions and common or potential scenarios in a confidential and supportive setting.
There is no pressure to perform—this is a professional learning environment designed to build confidence and practical skill.
Our goal is simple: Give you tools you can apply immediately in your practice—and continue to strengthen over time.
What You’ll Learn
This interactive workshop focuses on three core de-escalation strategies:
1. Building Rapport
Learn how intentional, professional rapport can reduce tension and create a sense of safety for both you and your client.
2. Expectancy Violations Theory (Flipping the Script)
Understand how calmly doing what a client does not expect can interrupt escalation and shift interactions toward cooperation.
3. Third-Party Perspective
Develop the ability to step outside the moment mentally—helping you stay grounded and respond professionally, even under pressure.
