Below we have outlined changes and additions or deletions to our policy handbook since the May 29, 2025 Edition. All of the changes in these policies are policy amendments which were approved at the September 24/25, 2025 Board of Directors Meeting. All Policy changes contained within this edition of the member handbook come into effect October 1, 2025.

The Board has made amendments to the following policies:

  • Annual Budget Approval Policy
    • Removed item 3 as this reporting is not legally required. Audited Financial statements are provided at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Cancellation of Membership Policy
    • Removed item 2.2.2. as phone call or text messages are provided before suspension, rather than at the time of membership cancellation.
  • Client Records, Charting, and Treatment Notes Policy
    • Changed language in Items 14.a. and 14.b. to provide better clarity.
    • Added Item 19 – which makes provision for the disposal of records.
  • Continuing Education Credits Course Approvals Policy
    • Changed language in items 6 and 7 regarding the submission of a course for credit re-evaluation to tighten and clarify the process and requirements regarding re-evaluation.
  • Digital Recording of Meetings Policy
    • Removed references to an Appeals Committee Meeting
  • Discipline for Complaints Policy
    • Added Item 5.1.2. which clarifies that necessary notification needs to be made by the member if a change of residency or absence from residence exceeding 14 days occurs during a disciplinary process.
    • Changed language throughout document from “Terminate(ion)” to “Cancel(lation)”
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Continuing Education Credits Policy
    • Added item 4 regarding a phone call or text message prior to suspension.
    • Removed reference to a phone call in item 11
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Current Vulnerable Sector Check Policy
    • Changed language in item 6 from six months to 90 days to keep consistency with bylaws and other policy documents.
    • Added reference to text message to item 7
    • Removed reference to phone call in item 14
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Intermediate First Aid and Level “C” CPR Certification Policy
    • Added reference to text message in item 3
    • Removed reference to phone call in item 9
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Maintenance of Valid Professional Liability Insurance Policy
    • Added phone call/text message requirement before suspension as item 3
    • Revised item 4 to match the current practice at renewal following the changes which took place to insurance renewal last year.
    • Removed reference to phone call in item 8.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Other Association Membership Policy
    • Removed reference to phone call in item 6.
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Study Permit and or Work Permit Requirements Policy
    • Added phone call/text message requirement prior to suspension as item 3
    • Removed reference to phone call in item 10
  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Submission of Annual Declaration Forms Policy
    • Added clarification statement to item 2 of this policy regarding the need for members who join after October 1st of the current year being exempt from needing to submit a Declaration.
    • Added phone call/text message requirement prior to suspension as item 4
    • Removed reference to phone call in item 9
    • Rephrased item 10 to provide better clarity.
  • Establishment of a Disciplinary Committee Policy
    • Removal of reference to “Knead to Know”
  • External Committee or Organization Appointment and Compensation Policy
    • Changed hour requirement under 16.a. to match changes made to the Board of Directors Remuneration and Expense Reimbursement Schedule.
  • Fee Schedule Policy
    • Removed references to setting In-Lieu-of AGM Attendance Fee
    • Consolidated advertising references into one.
  • Member Examinations of Association Books, Records and Documents Policy
    • Changed language in items 7 and 9 so as not to exclude any relevant privacy law.
  • Membership Number Change Policy
    • Item 2 was revised to provide clarity, and to include membership suspension as part of a disciplinary action.
  • Membership Requirement – Continuing Education Credits Policy
    • Addition of Items 13.a.ii. and 13.a.iii. are a transfer from the previous Membership Requirement – AGM Attendance policy.
  • Membership Requirement – Maintenance of Valid Professional Liability Insurance Policy
    • Item 5 was changed to match the current practice at renewal following the changes which took place to insurance renewal last year.
  • Membership Requirement – Other Association Membership Policy
    • Added items 4 and 5 which state that Inactive members may belong to another Association. This change is a result of the bylaw changes which took place at the 2025 AGM.
  • Membership Requirement – RMT Proof of Regulatory College Membership Registration Policy
    • Added the word licensure throughout the document to reflect the change in language used in the BC regulatory college.
  • Membership Requirement – Vulnerable Sector Check Policy
    • Added item 1.3 which clarifies that the first and last name on the VSC must match the first and last name of the member.
    • Added item 3.3 which clarifies what is required for a member moving to Nova Scotia.
  • Name Change Policy
    • Changed language in item #2 to make it a mandatory requirement that if a member legal changes their name, that they update that change with the Association, in order to keep the policy in line with the addition to the VSC requirement that first and last name on the VSC must match the first and last name on the member’s profile.
  • Treatment of Sensitive Areas Policy
    • Added definition to “breast”

The Board has rescinded the following policies:

  • Discipline for Non-Compliance Regarding Annual General Meeting Attendance Policy
    • Following revision to the Bylaws at the AGM this policy is no longer necessary
  • Membership Requirement – Annual General Meeting Attendance Policy
    • Following revision to the Bylaws at the AGM this policy is no longer necessary

The Executive Director has made amendments to the following appendices:

  • Appendix 8 – CMMOTA Confidentiality Agreement Regarding Membership Participation in the Complaints & Disciplinary Process
    • Changed language from termination to cancellation
  • Appendix 19 – Modalities List for Massage Therapists
    • Added Chair Massage to Section 3
    • Added Post Concussion Therapy and Soft Tissue Manipulation to Section 4
  • Appendix 20 – CMMOTA Membership Annual Declaration Form
    • Added Statements 8 and 9
  • Appendix 34 – Modalities List for Manual Osteopathic Therapists
    • Added Neurofascial Therapy and Infant Osteopathy to Section 3
  • Appendix 42 – Modalities List for Spa Therapists
    • Added Active Release, Graston, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Rattan and Somatics to Section 2
