Heads Up: Before You Try That New Technique, Check Your Coverage!
We’ve noticed some clinics offering in-house training on various modalities like hot stone, cupping, spa esthetics, or equipment such as laser therapy and ultrasound. While it’s great to expand your skill set, here’s the catch: not all training is created equal — at least when it comes to your professional liability insurance.
No matter where you picked up that new technique or gadget know-how, if your professional liability insurance doesn’t officially recognize that training, you might be stepping into risky territory. In plain English: if something goes sideways — think accidental injury or client damages — you could be on the hook. That means covering any costs, including legal fees, to defend yourself if someone takes civil action against you.
So, here’s the golden rule: if your training came from an in-house clinic session, hold off on using that modality, technique, or equipment until you’ve confirmed your insurance provider gives it the green light.
