Massage Therapy Regulation in Canada
In Canada, five provinces—British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island—have enacted provincial legislation to regulate massage therapists.
The Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association (CMMOTA) is actively working to advance the regulation of massage therapy in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan. For detailed updates on the progress in each of these provinces, please visit the respective links below.
CMMOTA remains fully committed to promoting the regulation of massage therapy across all remaining provinces and territories where the profession is not yet regulated. We continue to offer membership to qualified massage therapists and manual osteopathic therapists across Canada, from coast to coast to coast.
While CMMOTA is not currently pursuing active regulation efforts in Quebec, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, or Yukon, we are open to collaborating with any interested partners who wish to explore regulatory pathways in these jurisdictions.
Below, you will find links to individual pages with detailed information about CMMOTA’s ongoing efforts to regulate massage therapy in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan.
