Phase 2C Health Care Worker - Announcement of Vaccine Eligibility

Alberta CMMOTA Members,

Please see below an important announcement from Alberta Health Services:

We are working hard on the final adjustments to what needs to be provided when your members attend their appointment. In the interim, here are some key messages you may wish to share with your members:

  • Health care workers and associated staff who work in acute or community care settings are included in Phase 2C. These workers should be providing in-person direct patient care or support (such as reception or security). If you are not providing direct patient care, you may not be eligible under this phase of the COVID-19 vaccine program. Please review your eligibility through the Alberta COVID-19 webpage on vaccine –
  • Health care workers that are eligible include those under the Health Professions Act as well as those part of professional associations like massage therapy.
  • Massage therapists along with all health care workers will be able to book appointments online through Alberta Health Services, by calling 8-1-1 or a pharmacy. Please check the Alberta Blue Cross website here or Alberta Health Services for more information on how to book an appointment.
  • Students who are currently in practicum placements or who provide care through teaching clinics or labs open to the public at their training institutions are included in this phase.
  • Upon arrival at your immunization appointment, eligible therapists will be required to provide:
    • Proof of eligibility such as personal identification that shows the individual’s birthdate, AND
    • Proof of employment or professional registration, such as employment ID card, letter of employment or in the case of a student a letter of placement.
  • Further information about what identification and confirmation of eligibility that is needed at the time of your appointment will be available soon.
