Manual Therapy for the Spinal Nerve: 8 CEC’s Member Price: $299, Non-Member Price: $349 Saturday, September 21, 2024. Presented by Sheryl Hamilton. Time – 8:00am – 5:00pm. Bundle and save on all 3 days!

As manual therapists, we often come across clients who are suffering from the symptoms associated with compressed innervation.  Sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, and thoracic outlet syndrome are a few of the pathologies that we are confronted with almost on a daily basis that involve nerve compression.  It can be tough to determine a safe, gentle, and effective treatment approach for these cases that does not exacerbate symptoms.
This approach, developed by instructor Sheryl Hamilton after 25 years of professional experience as an RMT and neurology instructor, will give you the tools you need to provide release for any pathology that includes a component of neural compression.  It is non-invasive, safe, and easy to apply and relies on gentle fascial decompression to support affected nerves.  The main nerves of the brachial plexus and sacral plexus will be addressed, but the treatment approach can be applied to any peripheral nerve.
Neural decompression also supports general health of the extremities which can be useful in the recovery from any musculoskeletal concern. This can become a very powerful, widely applicable tool in the hands of a well-trained manual therapist.

State of the art anatomy and nerve graphics will allow manual therapists to look inside the human body. The Weber-Barstow Maneuver, and Supine to Sits Test will evaluate for functional versus anatomical leg length discrepancies. Pelvic stabilization will use positional release, muscle energy techniques, and muscle balancing protocols to address sacral torsion patterns, iliosacral upslips, joint capsular patterns, femoral nerve compression, and normal muscle firing patterns. Therapists will level the sacral base, and release the Sacrotuberous ligament for sciatic nerve pain. The Straight Leg Test and Braggard’s Test will identify L5/ SI bulges or herniated discs. The Slump Test will identify hamstring strains or adductor strains that scar down the Sciatic Nerve. Tibial Torsions and Fixated Fibular Head Conditions will be corrected, by releasing the biceps femoris muscle, to address the Tibial and Fibular Nerve Entrapments. Manual therapists will also evaluate and release Tarasal Tunnel and Morton’s Neuroma. Home care retraining will include nerve glides and nerve tensioning protocols.

Please note: It is highly recommended to complete the Manual Therapy to Eliminate Multiple Nerve Compression Patterns of the Upper Body first.

Manual Therapy for Viscera: 16 CEC’s Member Price: $450, Non-Member Price: $550 Sunday & Monday, September 22 & 23, 2024. Presented by Sheryl Hamilton. Time – 8:00am – 5:00pm. Bundle and save on all 3 days!

This course will review concepts covered in the one-day Viscera training taught by Sheryl Hamilton at previous conferences but will go deeper into those concepts as well as adding specific detail on the ligaments and movement patterns of various viscera.  Practitioners will learn how to determine which organ is in dysfunction, and whether that organ is contributing additionally to musculoskeletal concerns elsewhere in the body.  In addition, the venous return and lymphatic return, as well as the arterial supply and innervation of each organ will be covered.  This course will focus primarily on the organs of digestion, with a brief look at organs of the pelvis and thorax.  The course will end with a look at the relationship between the neural midline and the visceral midline.

At the end of this course, manual therapists will have an understanding about how to safely address motility issues of viscera in order to encourage maximal health in organ systems and improve overall body health.

K-Taping Pro: 14.5 CEC’s Member Price: $450, Non-Member Price: $550. Sunday & Monday, September 22 & 23, 2024. Presented by Lois Pohlod with OrthoCanada. Time – 8:00am – 4:30pm.

About the K-Taping® PRO course
K-Taping Pro is a two-day (16 hour) course that teaches the basic functions and effects of K-Taping Therapy. It covers applications for muscle, ligament, functional, and fascia corrections, as well as introducing lymphatic correction techniques. In this course, you’ll learn to apply combination techniques for a variety of conditions, from impingement syndrome to plantar fasciitis. Participants will also receive a course manual, practice tape, and a certificate upon completion.
In the K-Taping Pro course students are taught four application techniques
Muscle Techniques: Functional disorders in the muscles often cause an imbalance between agonists and antagonists. Muscle taping techniques are used to correct these imbalances. They allow the muscle to return to its normal function and adaptations can be made to the loading capacity and the movement patterns again.
Ligament Techniques: The ligament technique is used for injury and overuse of tendons and ligaments. It relieves pressure and pain, and improves loading capacity, resulting in quicker healing.
Corrective Techniques: Are divided into functional correction and fascia correction. The functional corrective technique is used for the correction of abnormal bony positions, such as the correction of an abnormal patella position. Functional correction requires maximal stretching of the tape before application. Fascia correction is used for adhesions within muscle fascia, resulting in a loosening of fascia and pain reduction.
Lymphatic Techniques: The Lymphatic Correction techniques are used when lymphflow is disrupted. These techniques lift the skin. This increases the space between skin and subcutaneous tissue and lymph fluid is able to flow easier out of the interstitial space into the lymphatic circulation.

Kinetic Chain Patterns for Complicated Shoulder Conditions: 8 CEC’s Member Price: $299, Non-Member Price: $349 Monday, September 23, 2024 Instructed by James Waslaski Time – 9:00am – 6:00pm. Bundle all 3 courses and save even more!

There is clinical evidence that a huge contribution to shoulder pain comes from prior injuries or surgeries (scars) and musculoskeletal imbalances throughout the entire body. Fascial lines of tension can cause the entire body to compensate. Without doing Total Body Balancing Techniques and treating scars that have accumulated over a life time, the shoulder symptoms usually return. Therapists will evaluate the stirrup spring system in the ankle responsible for “Ascending Syndromes” that work their way up into the knee, hip, spine, shoulder and neck. Therapist will also correct tibial torsion patterns in the knee, along with iliosacral torsions and resultant ascending roto-scoliosis of the lumbar spine. If uncorrected, this can lead to ascending kyphosis of the thoracic spine, and resultant Atlanto-occipital joint compression. After treating scars, and doing total body balancing, manual therapists will evaluate and treat shoulder impingent, bursitis, bicipital tendinosis, rotator cuff injuries, and thoracic outlet. The highlight of this class will be new clinical studies and techniques that will revolutionize the treatment of advanced stage adhesive capsulitis, known as “Frozen Shoulder.”
